EKURA Scholarship

An annual scholarship has been awarded since the beginning of the association.

For EKURA members, $100 of a lifetime membership goes directly into the scholarship fund to benefit students, and is tax deductible.

Gifts may be made to the scholarship fund at any time by directing funds to Carol A. Ford, EKU Foundation Scholarship Coordinator.

Selection Process of EKURA Scholarship Awardees for 2019-2020

May 6, 2019

  1. The Executive Committee, acting as the Scholarship Committee, met to review past protocol used in candidate selection in accordance with the MOA filed in the EKU Office of Development.
  2. Using this information, plus the most recently released report of the amount of expendable funds available for distribution, we decided to use up to $6,000 of the $6,368.32 available.
  3. We would like to support EKU students both at the graduate and undergraduate levels.
  4. The categories for awards we use this year might vary from year to year because of the variation in funds available, driven by market performance.
  5. For 2019-20 we will support once again our 2018-2019 awardee based on his academic performance. We will also support one underclassman and at least one graduate student.
  6. All consideration will be based on applications received in the Scholarship Office at EKU (Amanda McCracken) and distributed to members of this committee.

May 20, 2019

  1. Five members of the Executive Committee met to discuss applications received and make awards.
  2. We determined that we could for this 2019-20 period:
    • continue support of the 2018-19 undergraduate;
    • give new support for one additional underclassman;
    • give one time support to at least one graduate student finishing a program in the summer of 2019;
    • Support one graduate student enrolled in the 2019-2020 academic year.
  3. We will meet in the future to review the MOA to determine any changes which should be considered.
  4. Awards list will be for 2019-20 ONLY.
